Future Visual are selected to build the future of VR aviation training by IATA

Today the International air transport association (IATA) – the trade association of the world’s airlines with 290 member airlines – announces that Future Visual will continue to build VR training products for aviation ground crew.

Following a four month competitive tender process we are delighted to continue this relationship and announce we have been selected by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to build VR training products for aviation ground crew.

Using HTC Vive, Future Visual will continue to build further modules for the RAMPVR series enabling ground crew to train in a range of high-risk situations cost-effectively and with a faster success rate.

Training using VR will provide a faster route to competency; crews can experience a greater breadth of scenarios resulting in better trained people at a reduced cost.

Trainees will use VR immersive training for aircraft pushback and docking of passenger boarding bridges. Crew can train without risk of damage and practice multiple times without tying up expensive equipment.

As experts in the design and build of VR content for high-risk high-value environments Future Visual’s experience in using immersive technology for faster training with increased levels of knowledge retention made them a clear winner.

We are delighted to continue our relationship with IATA who have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to innovation and safety. Our work for IATA enables us to provide access to high-risk high-value situations and scenarios that are physically impossible or prohibitively expensive and thereby ensure ground crew are better prepared in a shorter period of time.

Qatar Airways receive the (virtual) keys to their RAMPVR licenses.

It is inspiring to see the adoption of VR training in aviation where improved safety can save lives. The adoption of these technologies along with tools to improve global collaboration such as VISIONxR™ can enable faster reaction times in high-value commercial operations.
